Or maybe in three days it will be over. On the national holiday of October 28, 2025, three days before the river was to be closed according to the conditions of the Šumava National Park, water finally came for the first time this year. The water gauge in Rejštejn climbed to 103 cm and just under 25 cubic meters that day. And so we set off.
We left one car in Sušice by the swimming pool and set off in the other at nine in the morning. There was no one around, just two kayakers from Klatovy. The river was ours.

It rolled down really fast, but safely. Big and bigger waves, rocks, just the Otava as it should be.
In Radešov, we began to feel sorry that it was ending, so we started hitchhiking upstream. After a while, the guys from Klatovy arrived, saying they were going home. But they took pity on us, gave me a ride to the car, I drove back to Radešov, stuffed the inflated packrafts into the trunk, and off we went for the second descent.
This time we drove all the way to Sušice.
