Blog from the Ultima Packrafts camp

  • I had the Upper Lužnice from Nová Ves in my sights for a long time, but I got to it by chance. My Finnish friend Alp and I were originally supposed to go to Soca, but after four days of brutal adventure races we decided that going further south than the south of Bohemia equals certain death after microsleep in the car and we anchored near Trebon.

  • It's time for packraft testing. On Friday and Saturday (16-17.5.2025) in Prague on the Troja canal (and on the surrounding calm waters) will take place a test of packrafts (and other vessels).

  •   With the start of the boating event one smaller event lasting until the end of May. With every Ultima packraft you will get a free Flextail electric pump. Valid until 31.5.2025. You can start #slodivbackpacking in May.

  • We wanted a packraft really pocketable. A ship that wouldn't sink as easily as the pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee did in 1939 at Montevideo. The Ultima Backpacker was born - a lightweight and extremely portable packraft that you can take on any of our traditional rivers up to about WW I. About the lakes,

  • Since this season, there is a slight change in our cargo bike packraft Ultima Cargo, which is now equipped with a fully removable deck (sprue) and also the possibility to attach knee straps. For travelling completely light in the summer, the packraft allows you to leave a few hundred grams at home. The original model with a partially removable spritz deck will

  •   So we unlocked the Doubrava as one of many hundreds of thousands of lucky ones and in front of a full stadium at Martin rapids, where the Mexican waves followed those rolling in from the rapids. Much better, however, was below Ronov, where Bluebell and I were almost alone on the river picking bear garlic from the banks and over

  • At the end of March it was finally time for the first sleepover. Somehow we didn't get to it earlier and later it would be too late again, because it could be unnecessarily warm and we need to test all the equipment for a late summer expedition to the Lapland rivers.

  • The weather was great, below freezing but clear, so we went to Stvořidla, which was below the six-pack limit. So we tested the imperviousness of our packrafts perfectly. In the morning in Světlá nad Sázavou the wind was fresh and it felt really cold. The gentleman on the bridge by the station announces that "You don't want to go to Stvořidla!" But

  • It was cold and it was freezing. And Christmas was over. It was time to go to Sázava. On the way to Petrov the car showed minus six and the trees were turning white. There was a grey cloud over the hundred-story city, but here, just outside of Prague, it was beautiful. I didn't go alone, but I took Honza with me,

  • So this was a classic summer trip of Captain Cvak with sailors Rybonožka and Pustilpádl. During two days on the Vltava we tested a three-man packraft with the working name of Giganta. It lacks some of the advantages of a packraft, as it is neither small nor ultralight, but then again, for a boat for three, it is not even

  • This is the machine we needed. An electric pump that inflates a packraft in under two minutes! With Flextail we have been inflating our packrafts since the very beginning, but the new MAX Pump 3 is even more powerful than its counterpart. It can deliver up to 500 litres per minute at 5 kPa and you can really inflate your boat with it.

  • A beautiful Sunday in October and the water gauge in Světlá reported less than eight cubic meters. A few weeks ago it was ten times more, but even eight was enough for a great ride. With the first Czech kickrafter Míra and Kája and packrafters Ultima Eddy and Tramp we set off from Smrčná to Sluneční zátok. In the eight-bubble condition

  • Trying out any of our models is no problem at all. Just call us, pick up and get started, for example, in the canal in Český Vrbný. This week Michal and Jitka came by and had a great time with Eddy and Tramp packrafts.

  • The Teacher River, as our friend called Salza, was also to test the Ultima Eddy and Ultima Tramp packrafts in the last week of August. Three days spent on the river showed that they can handle triple water without any problems. Maybe check out the introduction video. We started the first afternoon paddling on the dam - Wildalpen section.

  • With kids, packrafting takes on another awesome dimension. Whether you go on an adventure on calm water or on a river, it's always worth it. The problem kids have in packrafting is that they have a hard time reaching the water through the wider tubes with a kayak paddle. If they're learning to paddle on, say, a calm

  • It could be a fairy tale. But it's not. Fortunately. Two very handsome young men set out in search of lost time in cowboy country with the blind faith that such places still exist. And what was their excitement when, after two days of wandering, they arrived back at their starting point in Petrov near Prague with

  • Finally, we also stocked bow bags and Ultima dry bags designed specifically for our packrafts. The bow bag is actually a waterproof dry bag closed with a waterproof zipper. It is designed to fit directly to the bow of our packrafts, where you attach it with 4 straps that connect to the four eyelets on the packraft's front. Dry bag

  • Teplá Vltava after rains from Soumarský Bridge. Alone on the river again...
